PRESIDENT OF CIVIC JC – ESTHER WINTNER – ENDORSES TRENTON’S BAD BET & JOINS OPPOSITION TO GAMING EXPANSION

Citing Issues With Transparency & Impact To Community, Civic JC Joins The Fight To Stop Casino Expansion Into North Jersey

Newark, NJ – Esther Wintner, president of Civic JC, a community-based organization in Jersey City advocating for government transparency, today endorsed Trenton’s Bad Bet.

“We are proud to stand with Trenton’s Bad Bet in opposing casino expansion, which would be detrimental to our neighborhoods, our communities and our environment,” Civic JC President Esther Wintner said. “Some of our elected officials have shown their true colors by pushing the priorities of developers over the needs of the people.”

Civic JC is a non-partisan group working to ensure that Jersey City government is more accessible, responsive and accountable. The less-than transparent process that generated the cryptic casino expansion referendum raises huge caution flags for the group. Aside from transparency, the group is concerned about the impact casino development would have on their community.

Wintner added, “We will fight from now until Election Day to make sure our friends, families and neighbors know the dangers of casino expansion and vote NO on Question One.”
