ATLANTIC COUNTY FREEHOLDER – AMY GATTO – ADDS HER VOICE TO THE OPPOSITION TO CASINO GAMING EXPANSION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 1, 2016

Freeholder Urges Residents & Other Local Representatives Across New Jersey To Take Stand Against Gaming Expansion By Voting No On Question One

Newark, NJ – Today, Atlantic County Freeholder At-Large Amy Gatto endorsed Trenton’s Bad Bet and added her voice to the thousands opposing casino gaming expansion into North Jersey. Urging local representatives across the state to take a bipartisan stand to defeat the referendum, Gatto cited concerns over the negative economic impact in cautioning against the proposed gaming expansion.

“On November 8, we need to stand together to protect taxpayers, small businesses and residents across the entire state of New Jersey by voting no on Question One,” Gatto said. “Casino expansion would devastate the South Jersey economy and only help a couple of well-connected, out-of-state billionaires, while we get stuck with the bill when these North Jersey casinos fail.”

The Board of Chosen Freeholders in Atlantic County has executive responsibilities, including both legislative and administrative functions. Given its oversight and management of economic development and taxation, it is clear the Board considers casino developments in North Jersey a severe economic threat to the rest of the state. If the referendum were to pass, the consequences to South Jersey would be devastating with nearly 30,000 jobs lost and billions in economic pain with New Jersey taxpayers left footing the bill.

“Recognizing the danger casino expansion poses to the state, it is imperative that Republicans and Democrats work together to defeat this ballot question and prevent North Jersey casinos once and for all,” added Gatto.
