TRENTON’S BAD BET MAKES MAJOR RADIO & TELEVISION AD BUYS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 3, 2016

In Final Weeks Before Polls Open, Gaming Expansion Opponents Flood Airwaves In New York City & Philadelphia Media Markets, As Well As Trenton & Atlantic City

Newark, NJ – Trenton’s Bad Bet, a coalition that has aggressively opposed the referendum to expand casino gaming into North Jersey known as Question One, has purchased statewide television and radio advertising to continue to get their message out.

As a strategic part of their outreach in the final weeks before voters head to the polls, the ads highlight the impact of Trenton’s broken promises and mismanagement, and negative economic impact of gaming expansion. New Jersey residents are encouraged to “vote no on Question One.”

The two television ads will air on cable and broadcast in both the New York City and Philadelphia media markets, while the two radio ads will run in the Trenton and Atlantic City areas starting the first week of October.

1) New York City Television Ad:

For years, Trenton politicians have broken their promises.

Sticking New Jersey with America’s highest property taxes and one of the highest unemployment rates.

Now an independent study says North Jersey casinos could destroy thirty thousand jobs.

Thirty thousand Jersey jobs lost.

Creating even more economic pain.

Worse. It means…

More cuts to schools.

More cuts to seniors.

Higher property taxes.

North Jersey casinos: Another Trenton bad deal.

Vote NO on Question One.

2) Philadelphia Television Ad:

Devastating casino closures, eliminating thousands of jobs.

The most foreclosures in the nation.

South Jersey can’t take another hit.

But Trenton politicians want to reward their rich special interest friends in the North.

With a sweetheart deal to put new casinos in North Jersey.

North Jersey casinos could destroy thirty thousand South Jersey jobs, delivering a crippling blow to our economy.

Protect your jobs, and your property values.

Vote NO on North Jersey casinos.

3) Trenton Radio Ad:

Wife: Thirty thousand lost jobs. Unbelievable. Those guys in Trenton have no shame.

Husband: What are the politicians up to now?

Wife: More of the same. Rewarding their rich special interest friends at our expense. Again.

Husband: Oh, you’re talking about their new casino scam.

Wife: Yeah, I just read an economic study that says North Jersey casinos could destroy thirty thousand jobs.

Husband: Thirty thousand jobs. Come on. We already have one of the highest unemployment rates in America.

Wife: Well, if Trenton politicians and their special interest friends get their North Jersey casinos, we’ll get stuck with two billion dollars of economic pain.

Husband: I know how this ends.

Wife: Yep, More cuts to our kids’ schools. Less money to fix the roads

Husband: And higher property taxes we can’t afford.

Wife: North Jersey casinos are the last thing we need.

Husband: I’m voting no.

Wife: We should all vote No on Question One. Husband: North Jersey casinos are another bad Trenton deal.

The most foreclosures in the nation.

South Jersey can’t take another hit.

But Trenton politicians want to reward their rich special interest friends in the North.

With a sweetheart deal to put new casinos in North Jersey at our expense.

North Jersey casinos could destroy thirty thousand South Jersey jobs, delivering a crippling blow to our economy.

Thirty thousand jobs. Lost.

That means more cuts to our schools, more cuts to our roads and more cuts for programs that protect seniors.

Putting two new casinos in North Jersey would be devastating for Atlantic City and South Jersey’s economy.

It’s another bad deal from Trenton politicians who have let us down, time and again.

Protect your jobs, and your property values.
